Canon PowerShot ELPH 300 Review
Although I am not a photographer by profession but photography is my passion. I am always on a hunt for various professional cameras offering different features. I had been planning to visit African safaris and to capture all the beautiful landscape so I needed a perfect digital camera. And here I am with Canon Power shot 300 HS digital camera. Its outlook is black, sleek, and elegant and has a smooth surface. A perfect design and perfect quality! It has an extra characteristic of video making. It is handy, small in size, light in weight and easily carried around especially during travels. The display is very good; buttons are flexible and easy to press plus the touch screen is an additional feature helps to focus on a particular area of the picture or the video. It has USB and HDMI ports as well for computer connectivity.
- First of all the image quality is excellent. Not only is that but the image processing wonderful due to 300 HS system a higher ISO. After a test I could see and compare how clear, soft and detailed image it consistently delivers. The extra detail feature is due to the 12.1 MP versions. The sharpness of the image can be analyzed when zoomed in and out. It barely takes 2 seconds to capture the picture as you click. As far as the software is concerned, Canon software is satisfactory so far. Battery is stronger and reliable. Memory card is remarkable, I took thousands of pictures and I had no issues with the memory status. It has dual zoom options, digital and optical both. Some people do not prefer fast zooms however; in case of capturing natural landscape slow zoom is better.
- Coming to the best feature of this digital cam is its video recording option. Obviously it can’t be compared to a professional video camera yet it serves the purpose well. If you have a good lighting then it works great. In low lights the video is noisy and rough. It automatically detects face or even faces all you have to do is to work a little with changing options here and there.
Others might have complaints with regards to the video but as I have mentioned already that it does a great job with scenerie’s etc. I give it full stars!

I own a Nikon d3100 DSLR so the thought of getting a point & shoot camera never occurred to me as I am a total DSLR person. However, three months ago, it was my younger sister’s birthday and I got her the Canon PowerShot ELPH300. While the camera is solely hers, I have used it many times to test it and I have to tell you, I have been quite impressed with it. Even though it is a digital camera, it offers video shooting in 1080p mode and the pictures it takes are quite amazing.
Moreover, the camera works best in low light environments and that is what I love most about it because I simply cannot stand flash and the fact that this camera can take good pictures in low light without flash is simply great. The camera is quite affordable and though you cannot compare it to a DSLR, it is a pretty decent bargain in the category of digital cameras. The battery life however is a little disappointing but my sister got an extra battery for it so that issue was ruled out too. My recommendation to prospective buyers is to get an extra, 32GB memory card with the camera and you should be good to go.

I was recently in the need of a decent and reliable camera that would fit my budget. As I was heading out on a long trip to East Asia, I needed something that could capture those memorable moments perfectly.
I came across the Canon PowerShot ELPH 300 and I was instantly ready to get my hands on it. At first I was skeptical that the camera wouldn’t take high quality pictures as advertised. But when I finally went on my trip and took some pictures, I was really impressed.
The color quality, sharpness and the overall picture was amazing. The contrast was well balanced and there was enough smoothness in the pictures to look great.
The best thing about the camera is that it can store a huge amount of pictures on it. I gladly took hundreds and hundreds of photos of different landmarks and people. Every time I checked on the photo I was impressed.
This is a wonderful camera especially for its size and price. I could easily carry it with me in my jeans pocket and it would not disturb me. I recommend it to anyone who is going on a trip and needs a reliable camera that lasts long and takes amazing photos. I will forever recommend Canon from now on.
