SAPPHIRE AMD Radeon HD 6870 1GB Review

Previously I owned an xfx hd 5670, which was a really good card and was worth the price. I could easily run any game on it and initially I was very satisfied with it. However after a while I got sick of turning the graphics down to play games like battlefield 3 and even after turning them down this card would struggle with 30fps. This was really annoying! This is when I came across this card and after reading some reviews I decided to give it a try. Trust me this is the best upgrade I have done so far. This card is really fast, quiet, powerful and most of all it stays cool! However you still need a lot of air flow from the side of the case to keep this card cool. According to my observations it scores a 7.8wei and it ran at ultra-graphics with v-sync off on bf3 at 1600×900 at around 60-60fps, which is pretty amazing. However the card did lag a bit at ultra-settings every few seconds, this is why I turned the game quality to high instead of ultra and the card worked perfectly well. Doubling the fps makes the game so much easier and fun!
The only drawback of this card is that it is a bit larger in size and consumes a lot of power. It is big in all three dimensions and will take the space of two slots wide! Also it would not fit a large home theater case as it has a design in which the motherboard tray slides out for card placement and slides back into the case. It would not slide back in due to the power connectors that extend above the card. This can be a turn off if you want to use it on a wider screen. Other than that this card is perfect and is totally worth the price! If you are looking for a good graphics card then you should definitely buy it as not only does it give great performance but it is also relatively quitter than other cards.
Pros
Great performance Really fast and powerful Doesn’t heat up Gives great graphics Reasonable Price This card is particularly quiet when not stressed.Cons
This card is massive. Can consume a lot of power Would not fit a large home theater case It can occupy two pc slots.SAPPHIRE AMD Radeon HD 6870 1GB User Reviews

“Great Card For Its Price”
Pros
Great performance Stable temperatures Fast enough to run 3D applicationsCons
Takes a lot of space in your PC CaseSummary
I am a regular computer user and often find myself playing with applications that use 3D graphics. For that very purpose I needed a card that could at least handle my applications. I have not bought this card for video games, but for whatever reasons, I am quite proud of the decision I made by buying this.
The Sapphire AMD Radeon HD 6870 1GB is powerful enough to run most 3D applications. But don’t expect it to power current generation video games at their full glory. As far as 3D applications go, I use GRLevel2AE which has many 3D graphic extensive tasks.
I use the application without any hiccups whatsoever. The card generates graphics easily without any lags or slow downs, at least for the application I just mentioned. I also tried using HWinfo to check the temperature of the card and it is quite stable at most times.
The only problem with the card is that it is a dual slot card, so if you have a small PC case or motherboard, you will have a lot of problems installing this card in place.
“Great For Gamers On A Budget”
Pros
Superior performance over other budgeted cards Stable power and temperatures Can be crossfiredCons
Takes up a chunk of space in your caseSummary
With increasingly powerful graphics cards hitting the market, it’s often very hard to get a card under your budget that offers good performance. I found this card on the internet and a lot of people claimed that it was good enough to run most games on highest possible settings.
I thought I’d buy it and test it myself. After installing one of these on my machines, I am glad to tell you that it does actually handle most games on high end settings. Keep in mind that there are games like Batman: Arkham City and others which use tessellation effects.
If you are trying to power a game with Dx11 tessellation at maximum, you are going to end up disappointed. This card is not meant for newer technology like tessellation. But as far as any other game goes, for example World of Warcraft, Diablo III, Starcraft II and even Guild Wars, this card is strong enough to power them all at maximum capacity.
